Miki Desai has an M. Arch from the University of Texas at Austin, USA. He retired as a full professor from the Faculty of Architecture, CEPT University, Ahmedabad, India at the end of April, 2009. He is the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship, 2000, the Graham Grant, 2005 and the Getty Collaborative Grant, 2006-2008. He is the co-author of Architecture and Independence: The Search for Identity: India 1880 to 1980, OUP, New Delhi. He is also the author of Architekture in Gujarat, Indien: Bauernhof, Stadthaus, Palast, the Rietberg Museum, Zurich: 1990. He has had the ICSSR and EARTHWATCH fellowships for research. He is writing two books, one on the Wooden Architecture of Kerala and another, as a co-author, on the Development of the Bungalow in India. He has taught and lectured at many universities in Europe and the USA. Photography has been his passion for the past 30 years.
